The Murphy Law Practice

About

Passion. Experience. Diligence.

History

Marjorie Murphy was that student in school that routinely made the honor role, but it wasn't until she entered the Thurgood Marshall School of Law that she found her calling. Fully devoted to learning law, she applied herself and graduated Summa Cum Laude and the Valedictorian of her class.  Before she could interview she was recruited to Shook, Hardy & Bacon, LLP, where she launched her career.  After winning the Rising Star award, she caught the eye of Seyfarth Shaw, LLP, where she transitioned and honed in on her passion, Employment Law.

Although rewarding on many levels, being part of the corporate machine wasn't why she went to law school. Rather she envisioned taking on Goliath for all the Davids.  She got in this game to make a change, not to simply pass the ball.

In 2010, Marjorie launched The Murphy Law Practice, LLC, one of the only law firms in Houston, Texas, owned and operated by an African-American woman and focused on representing marginalized employees.  She knows what your employer's lawyer knows and where they hurt.  She settles most matters favorably, but doesn't shy away from a fight and she has the track record to prove it. She's sued AT&T, Orion Construction, Silver Eagle Distributors, HISD, Heckmann and National Oilwell Varco to name a few.  Her success rate is high because she selects her clients methodically and once committed she's in it to win it.
